I've been to Yorkshire Sculpture Park (in the grounds of Bretton Hall, West Yorkshire) a few times but not for a while and it is a really nice day out whether you're young or old, family type, couples or singles.

This is a photo from the website and I couldn't see copyright info so hope it's ok to copy it here - I am promoting the place after all!
It was a lovely sunny day and after weeks and weeks of rubbish weather here in Yorkshire it was great to get out into the open air and feel the sun on our faces.
We had a wander around some of the galleries including work by Andy Goldsworthy. There's a clip of him doing his thing on You Tube called Rivers and Tides. Initially we saw some broken stones, holes he had dug in the mud and snowballs - we weren't so thrilled with these but then we went into another area where he had created some crazy things with trees and logs and twigs - much more interesting.

This picture shows a room where he had created a sort of upside down nest entirely out of logs and twigs.
It was a strange construction - a bit like a tent somehow. Some people seemed to find it comforting while others found it a bit freaky.
I just thought it was impressive and must have taken ages!
We didn't really get much chance to wander round the Henry Moore sculptures but we did have a really nice walk and we think we saw an otter swimming in the river in the sculpture park grounds. Could be wrong but it was the size of a smallish dog and looked kind of otter-like!
We had a yummy crumbly cream tea in the cafe followed by an ice cream - pure greed, I know.
It was really lovely to lie on the grass in the warm sun and totally chill out for a while and it is a really nice place for a wander so I would certainly recommend it!
Don't be fooled into thinking it's only for arty types as it's just a nice country park with some stuff to look at that you may or may not like.
I took some pics of my own but haven't downloaded them yet so I will update once we've done that.
